Summer Outdoor Skills Camp

At our outdoor camps, children will have opportunities to connect and learn from nature at this fully outdoors program. Children will have opportunities to build nature skills, participate in nature and nature based activities. There are many different ways children play outdoors and at Forest and Nature School risky play is considered an important part of children’s development and learning. Some of the activities include the use of tools, including knives, learning and practicing how to make fires, climbing trees, etc.

Children's curiosity and interests guide the process with child-led play being a central focus. Children and educators build a relationship with the land by embracing a philosophy based on interacting and learning from the natural world as a way of developing and growing as learners and
teachers. This approach uses repeated access to the same natural space to encourage and develop connection to the land.
